Distribution
So far this species is only known from introduced specimens found in Germany and Austria, but the native range is unknown. Matzke and Kocarek (2015) suggest that the species originally traces from the neotropical region: the species has been found in tropical greenhouses in Leipzig, Potsdam and Vienna (Austria). At least in one case, most of the plants of the greenhouse had been imported from plant nurseries in Florida (USA), suggesting that the species was introduced from Florida with eggs or live specimens in plant soil. However, Matzke and Kocarek argue that the species might be alien to Florida as well, because the only known Euborellia species in Florida is Euborellia ambigua. Thus, the species may have been introduced to Florida greenhouses with plants from Central or South America, and then imported to Germany and Austria with plants from these greenhouses in Florida.
