Subspecies

Several subspecies are recognized, but only the nominate form may be present in Germany (see below).

Distribution
The nominate subspecies occurs in eastern Europe and Asia Minor. Other subspecies occur in central Asia and in northern Africa. There is a single record for Germany in Bayern, which is believed to be doubtful (Gaedicke and Heinicke, 1999), but which may also represent a stray from the native range in Austria.
