Identification
Pyrausta rectefascialis and Pyrausta cingulata are very similar. The whitish line on the upper surface of the hindwing is sharply bent in Pyrausta rectefascialis, but smoothly curved in Pyrausta cingulata. In addition, Peter Buchner writing on www.lepiforum.de (external link, accessed on August 1, 2015) suggests that the shape of the whitish line on the forewings also differs between the species: in Pyrausta rectefascialis the line is almost straight, but in Pyrausta cingulata it is visibly notched in the middle.
