The species has been described in the genus Palparia which is of female gender. The epithet is a declinable adjective (ocelleus meaning "with many eyelets") and has to be adjusted in gender to the genus name if transferred from one genus to another. The species is currently assigned to Euchromius and the original ocellea has to be declined to ocelleus according to the male gender of Euchromius.
