Subspecies

A large number of subspecies have been described, two of which may be found in Germany: Crambus perlella perlella and Crambus perlella pseudorostellus.

Distribution

The subspecies Crambus perlella pseudorostellus has been described from Fusio in the high Alps of Switzerland. The distribution of this subspecies is unclear and is given as "intermediate altitudes of the Alps: 1300-1500" by Bleszynski (1965), which could include parts of the Bavarian Alps.
The nominate subspecies occurs in the holarctic region, but the exact distribution is unclear, especially because the large number of other subspecies that replace the nominate form in many places. In Germany C. p. perlella is recorded from all Bundesländer.
