Crambus lathoniellus f. obscurellus (Mann, 1871) (excluded name under Article 1.3.4.) This species is called "pratellus" or "pratella" in older publications. However, the name "pratella" was given by Linnaeus to a different species of Crambus. Thus this name was used for the wrong species for more than 200 years. After the discovery of the inappropriate use of the "pratellus"/"pratella" epithet the name was transferred back to the species originally intended by Linneus: Crambus pratella. The species hitherto called "pratellus"/"pratella" needed another name. The next available name was "nemorella" Hübner, 1813, but this was discovered to be a junior homonym of "nemorella" Linnaeus, 1758. The next available name "lathoniellus" is the valid epithet. Distribution Widely distributed in Europe and Asia. In Germany recorded from all Bundesländer.
