Distribution
Chrysoteuchia culmella culmella is distributed in many parts of Europe and Asia and is replaced in North America by Chrysoteuchia topiaria. In Germany the subspecies appears to be common in the central and southern parts of the country. The exact distribution, especially with respect to C. c. montanellus, is unknown.
Chrysoteuchia culmella montanellus is distributed in northern and north-western Europe. Records exist from northern Belgium, Denmark, northern Poland, Norway and Great Britain. Especially because of its occurrence in Belgium and Denmark, it is to be expected that it can also be found in northern Germany.
Records for the species (without specification of the subspecies) exist for all Bundesländer.
