Chrysocrambus craterella



Subspecies

This species is extremely variable and a large number of subspecies have been described. Not all of these may be valid. In Germany only the nominate form occurs.

This species is often placed in its own genus Chrysocramboides. I do not find significant differences between Chrysocrambus and Chrysocramboides to justify genus rank for Chrysocramboides. Therefore, I do not currently adopt the placement of Chrysocrambus craterella in the genus Chrysocramboides.



Distribution
Europe and Asia Minor. In Germany recorded from Hessen, Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland. Older records also exist from Nordrhein-Westfalen, Sachsen and Sachsen-Anhalt. There is also an unconfirmed record from Bayern.
