Agriphila latistria

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies, but only the nominate subspecies occurs in Germany. The other subspecies, Agriphila latistria vallicolella Costa, 1885, is disputed and is often synonymized with the nominate form, because specimens similar to typical A. l. vallicolella also occur sporadically in populations of the nominate form. However, the frequency of this phenotype is significantly higher in mediterranean populations, thus A. l. vallicolella might best be regarded as the mediterranean subspecies of Agriphila latistria.
