Subspecies

A number of subspecies have been described from the European and Asian range of the species. In Germany two different subspecies occur: Furcula furcula furcula that lives in the northern half, and Furcula furcula fuscinula in the southern half.

Distribution
Widely distributed in Europe and Asia, east to Japan.
