Lysandra coridon
Silbergrüner Bläuling

Male. Specimen photographed in the Rhön (Bayern, Germany). Date not recorded.

Subspecies

Original description

Synonyms
Polyommatus coridon
Meleageria coridon

Note: these Blues with checkered wing fringes were previously placed in their own genus Lysandra, but were then lumped together with species of Meleageria and/or Polyommatus. However, the comprehensive phylogenetic study by Wiemers et al. (2009) shows that they are not closely related to either Meleageria or Polyommatus and previous studies had also pointed to this fact (Kandul et al. 2004). I therefore place them again in their own genus Lysandra.
