The identity of the taxon Xiphura fulvida Bigot, 1860 is unclear and to my knowledge the types are currently not traced. Mannheims (1953) has synonymized it with Ctenophora pectinicornis, and I follow this notion here, because Mannheims was the leading Tipulidae specialist at the time. I note, however, that other authors regard Xiphura fulvida as a subspecies or synonym of Dictenidia bimaculata. In addition, the name "fulvida" has also been erroneously used for individual specimens of several other species, thus adding to the confusion.
