Distribution
This species is often misidentified as the closely related and very similar Synanthedon tipuliformis and therefore its range is only incompletely known.
Meerkötter (2017) gives as the range of the species: France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, South- and East-Europe to the northern part of Turkey and Georgia. Meerkötter (2017) writes that the species is widely distributed in the southern half of Germany and the northern border of its appearance is approximately at the level of Köln (Cologne) and he reports several male specimens for Bayern (from the München (Munich) area).
