Synonyms
Synanthedon conopiformis (Esper, 1782)
Identification
No information has been entered yet.
Distribution
This species is widely distributed in Germany, but is lacking in northern parts. Meerkoetter et al. (2016) report that the species is less frequent in the southern parts of Bayern and may even be declining.
Biology
The hostplant of the species are several Quercus (oak) species, especially older trees or damaged trees. The species is usually regarded as preferring warm or dry-warm habitats, but the results of Meerkoetter et al. 2016 do not provide support for this idea, because these authors show that of three localities in southern Bayern, only one is located within the urban area of Munich (that shows a warmer climate than the surrounding areas), whereas two other localities are located far outside Munich in areas with a cooler climate.
