Distribution
Distribution map of Decantha borkhausenii in Europe.

This species has a fragmented distribution across Europe. It is reported from Central, eastern and northern Europe, and there is also a separated population in northern Greece. In Germany, there are three, obviously separated populations. The species occurs in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg in the north-east, and in Baden-Württemberg, Rheinland-Pfalz and Saarland in the south-west. In addition, Haslberger et al. 2016 report the species from Bayern: a single specimen collected near Bad Tölz.
Biology
The larvae live on pine trees (genus Pinus), where they build a silk web under loose bark. Also the imagines usually remain on the host plant and therefore are predominantly found in the vicinity of pine trees.
