Synonyms
Xanthia icteritia (Hufnagel, 1766)
Cirrhia icteritia (Hufnagel, 1766)

This is the type species of the genus Cirrhia and this genus is recognized as a separate genus by several recent authors. This is not adopted here: The type species of Xanthia, Xanthia togata, and the type species of Cirrhia, Xanthia icteritia are very similar at the imaginal stage, showing identical wing patterns, except that icteritia is the lighter version of togata. In addition, the larval stages of both species are identical and I know of no character to separate them properly. Thus, the two species are undoubtedly congeneric and are likely even sister species. Consequently, Cirrhia is a junior synonym of Xanthia.
