Identification
Forewing length 10 to 15 mm. Both sexes with a short tail at vein Cu2 on the hindwing.
Distribution
Native to South Europe, southern Central Europe, East Europe and through Asia to Japan in the east. Elsewhere in Europe the species may be recorded as a migratory species, but without stable populations. An expansive species in Germany that increases in abundance since ca. 2010. However, in some areas the species is already in decline again, e.g. in the area around Munich (Scholley-Pfab and Pfab 2017).
