Torymus armatus

< Previous    |    Next >

Subspecies
No subspecies are recognized.

Synonyms
Torymus armatus Boheman, 1834
Diomorus armatus (Boheman, 1834)
Diomorus nobilis Walker, 1834 (nec Boheman, 1834; junior secondary homonym in Torymus, see note below)

A poorly known species and its status is doubtful. More research is neccessary to establish whether it is really a bona species.

Note: The nobilis epithets by Boheman and Walker have both been published in 1834 and thus compete for senior secondary homonymy in Torymus. The exact publication date is only known for the work by Walker: April 1st. The work by Boheman might have been published earlier than April 1st, because it is titled "for the year 1833" suggesting that it contains all papers that were collected during 1833 and then published as soon as 1833 was over. Therefore, I regard the name by Boheman as having priority and as the senior secondary homonym if placed in Torymus.

This reasoning also affects the question of priority of Boheman´s armatus and Walker´s nobilis: Boheman´s work has probably been published before April 1st 1834 and thus I suggest that armatus has priority over nobilis.
