Urocerus tardigradus

Subspecies
No subspecies are recognized. However, Urocerus tardigradus might by a synonym of Urocerus fantoma (see "Synonyms" below).

Original description

Synonyms
Sirex tardigradus Cederhjelm, 1798
Urocerus tardigradus (Cederhjelm, 1798)
Xanthosirex tardigradus (Cederhjelm, 1798)
Xanthosinex tardigradus (Cederhjelm, 1798) (misspelling)
Xanthosirex phantasma Semenov-Tian-Shanskij, 1921
Sirex fantoma auct. nec Fabricius, 1781 (presumably a misidentification)
Urocerus
fantoma auct. nec Fabricius, 1781 (presumably a misidentification)
Sirex phantoma auct. (presumably a misidentification)
Urocerus
phantoma (presumably a misidentification)

Note: Urocerus tardigradus and Urocerus fantoma have long been regarded as synonyms and still are by some authors. The status of tardigradus requires clarification; it might fall as a synonym of fantoma, but until more data is available I regard it as a bona species.

Identification

Distribution
Not yet recorded from Germany, but the species is frequently confused with Urocerus fantoma (of which it might be a synonym) and thus the exact distribution is not clear. It is possible that some German records of Urocerus fantoma actually refer to Urocerus tardigradus.
