Urocerus gigas




Subspecies
A number of subspecies have been described, but not all of them are currently recognized. The following taxa appear to represent genuine subspecies:
Urocerus gigas gigas Linnaeus, 1758
Urocerus gigas flavicornis Fabricius, 1781
Urocerus gigas orientalis Maa, 1949
Urocerus gigas tibetanus Benson, 1943

Only the nominate form occurs in Germany.

Note: the taxon "taiganus" is sometimes regarded as a separate subspecies. However, there are no clear differences to Urocerus gigas and the two names are regarded as synonyms.
