Original description

Synonyms
Derostenus pictipes Crawford, 1912 (p. 180)
Chrysonotomyia pictipes (Crawford, 1912)
Neochrysocharis pictipes (Crawford, 1912)
Neochrysocharis albipes Kurdjumov, 1912 (p. 235)
Heterocharis albipes (Kurdjumov, 1912)
Closterocerus albipes (Kurdjumov, 1912)
Chrysonotomyia albipes
(Kurdjumov, 1912)

Note: I have not been able to trace the publication that originally proposes the synonymy of "pictipes" and "albipes", but this synonymy is listed by many authors and I agree with it. The original descriptions of both taxa read very similar. Both names have been published in 1912, but "pictipes" was published on September 7, 1912, while "albipes" was published on October 20, 1912. Thus, "pictipes" is the senior synonym.

Identification

Distribution
Recorded from Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia, Moldavia, and the former Yugoslavia, and Sweden. Also recorded from Canada. I know of no German record, but the species is very similar to Neochrysocharis nunbergi and thus many European records of the latter may in fact refer to N. albipes. I suggest that all future records of N. nunbergi from Germany should be closely checked for possible confusion with N. albipes.
