This species is morphologically intermediate between Chrysocharis and
Neochrysocharis and its placement in either genus has been unclear. It
has been described originally in the genus Chrysocharis, transferred to
Neochrysocharis by Hansson (1985), but then transferred back to Chrysocharis by Hansson (1990). It
is currently assigned to the genus Chrysocharis. Hansson (1985)
erroneously changed the species epithet from the original form
"chlorus" to the feminine form "chlora" in order to adjust it to the
feminine gender of the genus name. However, De Vere Graham (1963)
coined the name "chlorus" in combination with the feminine genus name
Chrysocharis and thus very clearly did not use the word as an adjective,
but as a noun in apposition that must not be changed when combined with
different genera. The valid species epithet is therefore chlorus, not
chlora.
