Orgilus abbreviator

Subspecies
No subspecies are recognized.

Original description

Synonyms
Microdus abbreviator Ratzeburg, 1852
Agathis abbreviator (Ratzeburg, 1852)
Orgilus abbreviator (Ratzeburg, 1852)

The identity of this species is unclear. It is only known from its original description, but the type specimens are lost. The original description suggests that the original assignment to the genus Microdus and the subsequent assingment to Agathis are incorrect. Simbolotti and van Achterberg (1992) show that the original description fits best a species of the genus Orgilus and transfer it to this genus. In addition, they suggest that it may be a synonym of Orgilus nanellae, because both taxa have the same host (moths of the genus Recurvaria).
