Agathis mongolica

Subspecies
The differences between Agathis semiaciculata and Agathis mongolica are subtle and thus, both taxa could be considered subspecies of the same species. However, I accept the view of Simbolotti and van Achterberg (1999) who regard Agathis mongolica as a separate bona species.

Agathis semiaciculata auct. nec Ivanov, 1899 (a misidentification)

Identification

Distribution
Agathis mongolica has been recorded from Andorra, Italy, Mongolia, Poland, and from Austria, but not yet from Germany. Because of the possible confusion with Agathis semiacicula the exact distribution of both species is unclear, and it is possible that German specimens of Agathis mongolica have so far been misidentified as Agathis semiaciculata. Accurate identification is required for all future records of this species from Germany.
Note: the species is not listed by Belokobylskij and Taeger (in Dathe et al. 2001).
