Salda littoralis

Subspecies
The taxonomic substructure of this species is currently unclear. Most authors recognize adriatica as a separate species, but regard subcoriacea as a synonym of littoralis. This notion is questionable, because there are no obvious differences between adriatica and subcoriacea. Therefore I regard these two as synonyms and treat this taxon as a subspecies. However, more work is necessary to corroborate this issue and all names could be synonyms of Salda littoralis (therefore I give the synonymies of both taxa below).

Two subspecies are recognized; only the nominate form occurs in Germany:
(1) Salda littoralis littoralis (Linnaeus, 1758)
(2) Salda littoralis adriatica Horvath, 1887
