Coranus subapterus

Subspecies
No subspecies are recognized.

Original description

Synonyms
Cimex pedestris Poda, 1761 (p. 56) (nomen dubium, unclear synonym)
Type locality: not specified ("Habitat in Ceraso" [= lives in cherry trees]).
Cimex subapterus De Geer, 1773
Coranus subapterus (De Geer, 1773)
Cimex naevius Gmelin, 1790a (nec Gmelin, 1790b; junior primary homonym) (nomen dubium)
Cimex dimidiatus Turton, 1802 (nomen dubium)
Reduvius pedestris Wolff, 1811 (p. 205) (see note below)
Type locality: "Habitat in Germania locis apricis arenosis".
Colliocoris griseus Hahn, 1833 (nec Rossi, 1790; preoccupied in Coranus)
Harpactor hahnii Kolenati, 1857
Coranus tuberculifer auct. nec Reuter, 1881 (misidentification)

Note: Cimex pedestris Poda, 1761 is a nomen dubium, but its description would fit Coranus subapterus: "Cimex oblongo ovatus apterus thorace obtuse spinoso abdomine supra tuberculis sex. Elytra abdomine triplo breviore. Latera abdominis albo maculata". I therefore provisionally place it here in the synonymy of the present species.

Note: Wolff (1811) describes Reduvius pedestris as a new species and does not cite Poda (1761). It is not clear whether Wolff was nevertheless inspired by Poda, but omitted a citation.
