Subspecies

No subspecies are recognized. However, some authors
suspect that Phylus palliceps is very similar or probably identical with
Phylus melanocephalus. Until more information about the status of
Phylus palliceps becomes available, I provisionally retain Phylus
palliceps here as a separate species.
