Biology
The host plants of this species are currently discussed controversially in the literature. Most authors give a range of widespread plants that often occur together in meadows or along paths: Urtica, Epilobium, Achillea, Hypericum, Rubus, Galium, Lotus. I have found the adults in larger numbers on the flowers of Achillea millefolium; when undisturbed the animals sit on top of the umbel and feed on the flowers. Upon disturbance, the animals quickly run to the underside of the umbel and hide, or, if further disturbed, drop to the ground.
