Subspecies
No subspecies are recognized.

Original description

Synonyms
Heterogaster depressus Mulsant et Rey, 1852
Orsillus depressus (Mulsant et Rey, 1852)
Orsillus depressus Dallas, 1852 (homonym and synonym, see note below)
Phygadicus graminis Garbiglietti, 1869
Macrorhamphus caucasicus Jakovlev, 1876

Note: Mulsant and Rey, and Dallas described this species in parallel  in the same year with the same name. Thus both names are synonyms and homonyms at the same time. The valid name, Orsillus depressus, is unaffected of this homonymy/synonymy, but the authorship is unclear. The principle of priority normally decides in these cases, but unfortunately the exact date of publication of the two names in not currently known. The first reviser of the genus has selected the description by Mulsant and Rey for priority and, thus, currently the correct authorship has to be credited to Mulsant and Rey.
