Some authors use the name Peribaea apicalis. However, Andersen (1996) has studied the type specimens of both "apicalis" and "minuta" and, although both type specimens are severely damaged, has concluded that "apicalis" is a synonym of Peribaea tibialis and not a synonym of Peribaea minuta. I follow this work and therefore regard Peribaea minuta as the valid name of the present species.
