Note: Trichosia modesta Winnertz, 1867 and Sciara modesta Staeger, 1840 are secondary homonyms when placed in Sciara and a replacement name, Sciara mendax, for the junior secondary homonym has been published before 1961. However, the species are not presently considered as congeneric and the replacement name is not in use. Therefore the junior secondary homonym is not to be rejected (Article 59.3.) and is the valid name for the present species.


Identification


Distribution
Not yet recorded from Germany, but distribution incompletely known. It is recorded from other Central European countries (Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria) and its occurrence in Germany can be expected.
