Note: most of these names have been described
on the basis of heterogenous type series.
Therefore, there is some confusion as to the
synonymy of these names and sometimes these
names are synonymized with other names than in
the present list. However, in the case of
heterogenous type series only the lectotype is
important for synonymy.
Note: Bradysia moestula is sometimes regarded
as a separate valid species. However, the
lectotype specimen of Bradysia moestula has
been examined by Mohrig and Menzel (1993) and
has been found to be conspecific with the type
of Sciara forcipulata. Therefore, I do not
accept B. moestula as a separate species here.
