Nanna leucostoma

Subspecies

Original description

Synonyms
Cordylura leucostoma Zetterstedt, 1846
Amaurosoma leucostoma (Zetterstedt, 1846)
Amaurosoma leucostomum (Zetterstedt, 1846)
Nanna leucostoma (Zetterstedt, 1846)

Note: The word "leucostoma" is often regarded as an adjective and is then adjusted to the gender of the genus name (as "leucostomus, -a, -um").
Indeed, the greek "stoma" has been adopted in the Latin language in words like "stomacace", "stomachicus", and "stomachus", but the use as an adjective in the form "stomus, -a, -um" is not known to me. The word is not listed in those dictionaries of classic and modern Latin that I have consulted and thus I have no evidence for its use as an adjective.  In contrast, the word "stoma" is here combined with another unmodified greek word ("white mouth") and this is strong evidence that the whole word is a greek noun, not a latinized adjective. Thus, I follow here Article 31.2.2. of the Code and regard the species epithet as a noun in apposition that does not change with the gender of the genus name.
