Chalarus spurius (Fallen, 1816)

Some authors regard the taxa Chalarus holosericeus, Chalarus velutinus, and Chalarus obscurus (Zetterstedt, 1838) as synonyms of the present species, but this is unclear. I regard them here as separate species until more information is available. Chalarus holosericeus and Chalarus velutinus have been recorded from Germany, but Chalarus obscurus is only known from Scandinavia.
