Note: the word "stigmatella" as used by Zetterstedt is the diminutive form of the noun "stigma, -tis" (Latin for "marking"). The noun "stigma" belongs to the third (consonant) declension and has the stem "stigmat-". The diminutive suffix "-ell-" is added to the stem, and the original ending "-a" is then added. The word means "little marking", has neutral gender and is a noun in apposition. It therefore does not change with the gender of the genus name.
