Note: The identity of the nominal Hydrellia ruficornis is unclear. Although the original genus combination suggests that it is a Ephydridae, it is listed as a nomen dubium in the genus Scaptomyza by Brake and Bächli (2008). Previously it has often been synonymized with Scaptomyza graminum. Since the types are apparently lost, the identity will probably remain unclear forever and therefore I prefer to retain this name in the synonymy of Scaptomyza graminum.
