Drosophila funebris

Original description

Synonyms
Musca funebris Fabricius, 1787
Drosophila funebris (Fabricius, 1787)
Musca erythrophthalma Panzer, 1794 (unclear synonym, see below)
Drosophila
erythrophthalma (Panzer, 1794)
Musca erythrocephala Neuhaus, 1886 (lapsus)
Drosophila clarkii Hutton, 1901
Leucophenga atkinsoni Miller, 1921
Drosophila dudai Malloch, 1934

The identity of Musca erythrophthalma is unclear. The types are lost (Brake and Bächli (2008)) which makes the identification difficult. This name has previously been synonymized with Drosophila funebris, but has been removed from this synonymy in the list of Brake and Bächli (2008). These authors list the name under "nomina dubia". I prefer to retain the name in the synonymy of funebris and therefore list it here as an unclear synonym.
