Original description
Rusek, 1982

Locus typicus: Obora forest, Czech Republic.

Synonyms
Mesaphorura
hylophila Rusek, 1982
Mesaphorura ruseki Christiansen & Bellinger, 1980 (unclear synonym)

Identification

Distribution
Europe. Also recorded from the Balearic islands. If the synonymy of "ruseki" with "hylophila" is accepted, then this species is also present in North America.

Biology
This species is known from very different kinds of habitats and, thus, does not seem to be very demanding as to the type or quality of the soil. So far only females are known, pointing to a parthenogenetic reproduction.
