Note: the gender of the genus name is unclear. The original author indicated neutral, or in later publications, male gender. The reviser Bowestead (1999), however, assumes female gender, because "[l]exicon evidence indicates that the few Greek nouns with `ps´ ending are feminine". I find no support for Bowestead´s notion, because Greek words with the ending "-ips" appear to be mostly masculine. Thus, I would assume that Arthrolips is of male gender. However, in order not to introduce further instability of the spelling of the species epithet, I accept Bowestead´s (1999) determination of Arthrolips as being of female gender.
