Synonyms
Leptura caerulescens Scopoli, 1763 (p. 49)
Phytoecia caerulescens (Scopoli, 1763)
Opsilia caerulescens (Scopoli, 1763)
Type locality: "Carniolia".
Phytoecia coerulescens auct. (misspelling)
Opsilia coerulescens auct. (misspelling)

Some authors place this species in its own genus Opsilia, while other authors regard Opsilia as a subgenus of Phytoecia. In my opinion, there is currently insufficient evidence for the monophyly of Opsilia and the other subgenera of Phytoecia to warrant their acceptance as separate genera. Therefore, I currently do not split Phytoecia into numerous smaller genera.
