The genus Deroplia was generally believed to have been described by Bedel in 1889, and therefore the older Stenidea Mulsant, 1842 was thought have precendence over Deroplia. However, Deroplia has actually been described by Dejean, 1835 and thus it is the valid genus name for this species (see also Brustel et al. 2002).

Distribution
This species occurs in Spain, France, Italy and south-eastern Europe. It is not native to Germany, but may be introduced with wood products.
