Misidentifications:
Bruchus acaciae auct. nec Gyllenhal, 1833
Bruchus ptilinoides auct. nec Fahraeus, 1839

Note: in the years before 1910 "Bruchus acaciae" and "Bruchus ptilinoides" were repeatedly reported from Hamburg. However, all these reports are now believed to be misidentifications of the present species (Von Sydow 1907). These species are therefore no longer listed for Germany. Bruchidius ptilinoides (Fahraeus, 1839) occurs in eastern Asia, and Caryedon acaciae (Gyllenhal, 1833) is native to Africa, Saudi Arabia and India, but has been introduced in Hungary. See also Penthobruchus germaini for additional notes on doubtful records of foreign species.
