Thermoterrabacterium ferrireducens, a thermophilic anaerobic
dissimilatory
Fe(III)-reducing bacterium from a continental hot spring. Growth was
on basal
medium with amorphous Fe(III) oxide as an electron acceptor. The cells
are
covered by a layer of very electron-dense particulate material. Ultrathin
section.
