PROSEMINAR
APPLIED LINGUISTICS

Oliver M. Traxel

WS 15/16

Wd 10-12

Room: A2 2 - Seminarraum 2.16

Language use often depends on the situation in which it occurs. For this reason there may be many factors that influence the actual linguistic output, which is evident in a large number of academic disciplines, such as education, psychology and sociology. This seminar focuses on the role that language plays in the real world. For this purpose we will look at specific linguistic categories, such as discourse analysis and pragmatics, and examine these in the context of broader fields that rely on communication, such as language learning and media studies. Particular emphasis will be put on the identification and possible solution of language-related problems in human interaction.
