Dear user,
in 1988, the President of the University of Goettingen, the late
Prof. Norbert Kamp, gave his support to establish the
Center for International Affairs. At that time, I had already decided
to continue teaching in Goettingen/Germany after having declined to
accept the appointment by a royal resolution to assume the chair for Comparative Politics as the
successor of Stein Rokkan. As chair of the Center in Goettingen, I established the new
International Relations-based discipline of Islamology for the study of Islam
and conflicts in society and in international politics.
Concurring with my retirement, the University of Goettingen has regrettably decided to close the Center and to abolish International Studies and Islamology altogether as from September 2009. In view of these facts, this
website has undergone a fresh change - it is now purely a personal website and no longer one of a Center that no longer exists.
The homepage includes a German and an English short CV (see "vita") as well as a comprehensive
CV in English. It also includes the listing of all books and monographs
I have published in the past forty years, between 1969 and 2009.
Best regards,
Bassam Tibi
