This species is native to southern and south-eastern Asia. It has been accidentally introduced into France and has been expanding its range eastward rapidly (Witt 2010). It has reached the south-western parts of Germany in 2014 and is recorded from Rheinland-Pfalz and Baden-Württemberg (Witt 2015).
