Trapezonotus dispar

Subspecies
(1) Trapezonotus dispar dispar Stal, 1872
(2) Trapezonotus dispar breviceps (Jakovlev, 1881)

The taxon breviceps has been controversial and has been regarded either as a separate species or a synonym of the taxon dispar. Neimorovets (2006) showed that there are no significant differences in genital morphology, but the color of the fore femur in females is different. Neimorovets therefore concludes that the two taxa are not identical, but are separated only at the subspecies level. Only the nominate subspecies occurs in Germany.
Synonyms
Synonymy of Trapezonotus dispar dispar:

Trapezonotus dispar Stål, 1872
Trapezonotus dispar dispar Stål, 1872
Trapezonotus arenarius alpina Gulde, 1937 (infrasubspecific?)
Trapezonotus dispar pseudomacroptera Gulde, 1937 (infrasubspecific?)
Trapezonotus quadratus auct. nec Fabricius, 1798 (misidentification according to Opinion 798)

Synonymy of Trapezonotus dispar breviceps:

Trapezonotus breviceps Jakovlev, 1882
Trapezonotus agrestis seductor Horvath, 1883
Trapezonotus dispar seductor (Horvath, 1883)
Trapezonotus seductor (Horvath, 1883)

Note: Trapezonotus breviceps and Trapezonotus seductor are often considered to be synonyms of a monotypic Trapezonotus dispar. However, Neimorovets (2006) showed that T. breviceps is a valid subspecies of T. dispar and T. seductor is a synonym of it. This subspecies does not occur in Germany, but in order to avoid confusion, I also give the synonymy of this subspecies above.
