Map:

The Ernst-Caspari-Haus is part of the "Nordcampus". The nearest bus stop is "Kellnerweg" of bus lines 5 and 51. Enter the building through the main entrance (red arrowhead) and keep left; go through the hallway on the left until you reach the staircase. Take the stairs or the elevator to the second floor and ring the bell next to the glass door of the "Abteilung Entwicklungsbiologie - Prof. Dr. Ernst A. Wimmer".

Arrive by plane: the nearest airport is Hanover (Hannover). From Hanover Airport take the S-Bahn S5 or S8 to Hannover Hbf (train station). Then take the train to Göttingen (see below). Alternatively, you can arrive at the international air hub of Frankfurt (Fraport). Frankfurt and Göttingen are connected by hourly ICE services and the journey takes about 2 hours.

Arrive by train: Göttingen is an ICE hub and thus provides regular train services from and to most major destinations in Germany (click here to access the Web site of Deutsche Bahn). The train station is located next to the city center and thus quite far from the "Nordcampus" in the northern suburb of Weende. Upon arrival you may take the bus line 51 that departs every 30 minutes from platform D of the busport located in front of the station´s main entrance at its south end. The ride takes you in about 15 minutes directly from the train station to the "Nordcampus": get off at "Kellnerweg" and follow the description and map above. Alternatively, there is a taxi stand next to both entrances of the train station and the service from the station to the institute costs about 10 to 15 EUR. You may also take combinations of bus lines 5, 8, 10, and 12 that travel through the city for about 25 minutes and finally end up near the north campus, but this is not recommended. The Göttingen bus services are known for their complexity and even locals are frequently confused. See the links in the right column for an overview of the Göttingen bus network and for telephone numbers of taxi and cab services or car rental agencies.
For those who enjoy the sports exercise, there is a rent-a-bike self-service available directly in front of the main entrance of the station. Note that to use this service you have to register beforehand.

Arrive by car: Exit the A7 at exit 72 (Göttingen-Nord) and follow the B27 until you reach the crossing "Hannoversche Straße". Keep straight on (this is still the B27, but is now named "An der Lutter"). After you have passed the crossing of "An der Lutter" with "Hermann-Rein-Str./Petrikirchstr." turn right into the drive-up way to "Robert-Koch-Str.". Enter "Robert-Koch-Str." turning left and follow this street until you turn right into "Justus-von-Liebig Weg". Follow this street until you see the X-Lab, a multi-colored cube-shaped building. See map above for the exact location of our institute next to the X-Lab and the Gästehaus. Please note that there are no parking facilities directly in front of our institute. Limited parking space is available in front of the student dorm (opposite the Gästehaus).
