New genes controlling blastoderm formation

We have a collection of mutations in germline clones on the X and II chromosome. These mutations cause defects in specific aspects in early development. We have finished the screening and cloned the most promising ones for the X-chromosome. The analysis of some of these genes has been published (X161/RNPII-215, xit), while others are currently analysed (PP-V, SHMT, kur) or have shown to be outside of our interests (e. g. wabl,zw-5) In addition, we recently performed an EMS mutagenesis experiment together with the laboratory of S Luschnig (Zürich) and isolated new mutants in germline clones on the 3L and 3R chromosome arms. Currently, we are characterising the mutant phenotype by histological analysis and live imaging. Promising mutants are being mapped and cloned. For cloning we are now using whole-genome sequencing.
