Richard and Aporn: new members of the group

Richard Splivallo

Richard Splivallo is a Swiss PhD student coming from the laboratory of Professor Paola Bonfante in Italy. In our laboratory he investigates metabolites of truffles, particularly regarding their effects on plants. The potential involvement of secondary metabolites of truffle fungi in the mycorrhiza formation and/or in the burnt phenomenon (suppression of plant growth in the vicinity of trees mycorrhized by truffles) motivates this research. Some photos from his project.

Aporn Songsang

Dr. Aporn Songsang does research in animal nutrition and is particularly interested in mycotoxins. In our lab she is getting familiar with the use of mass spectrometry in mycotoxin analysis and develops optimized cleanup protocols for certain mycotoxins.
